On June 4, 2024, the President of the University of Sulaimani, Dr. Kosar Mohammed Ali, along with his assistants and the Dean of the Language College, Prof. Dr. Shakhawan Jalal Haji Faraj, visited the examination halls of the Language College students for the academic year 2023-2024, second semester, first round, to oversee the conduct of the examinations.

On Saturday, June 1, 2024, the College of Languages at Sulaimani University conducted the first day of exams for the second semester / first round of the academic year 2023-2024. Exams were held in all five morning departments (Kurdish, Arabic, English, Translation, Persian) and evening departments (Kurdish, Arabic, English).

On May 27, 2024, the Arabic Department of the College of Language organized a seminar featuring Dr. Juanita Salah Ahmad, a specialist in surgery, gynecology, childbirth, and infertility. Dr. Ahmad, who holds a board certificate in her field and is an employee at the Maternity Hospital, delivered an insightful seminar titled “Maintaining Physical and Mental Health.”

During the seminar, Dr. Ahmad addressed critical health topics pertinent to the female students of our college. Key discussions included methods to prevent uterine and ovarian cancer and the health risks associated with certain cosmetics and vapes, which can lead to severe illnesses like cancer.

The primary objective of this seminar was to enhance health and hygiene awareness among female university students. The event concluded successfully, leaving the attendees better informed and equipped to make healthier choices.

On Monday, May 13, 2024, a delegation comprising lecturers and researchers specializing in linguistics and literature from Iranian universities, led by Mr. Hassanpour, the head of the Cultural Relations Department of the Islamic Republic of Iran, visited Sulaimani. The primary aim of their visit was to engage closely with the faculty members of the Persian Department of our college, fostering an exchange of scholarly ideas and perspectives. As part of their itinerary, the delegation, accompanied by the head of our Persian Department, explored various sections of Sulaimani University’s Central Library.

On May 2, 2024, Sulaimani University’s College of Language, Arabic Department, orchestrated a cultural excursion for their first-year students to the Endowment Library in Sulaimani. The primary aim of this outing was to acquaint students with the process of borrowing books from the library, and getting information on manuscripts and magazines essential for their future research endeavors in these areas.
In line with their academic goals, students specifically requested books relevant to their field of study and expressed their intention to conduct research on professional skills related to the lecture of Critical Thinking.The research endeavors of these budding scholars will be under the expert guidance and supervision of Dr. Rojan Khaznadar and Ms. Tara Ismael, ensuring comprehensive support throughout the research process.

A football tournament was held for our esteemed College of Language, graced by the presence of the Dean of the College of Languages, the Head of the English Department, and the Head of the Higher Education unit. This exhilarating event witnessed the participation of seventeen teams, showcasing the remarkable enthusiasm and sportsmanship of our departments.

Sponsored by the generous support of Sport Check Center and facilitated by the dedicated efforts of the departmental representatives of our college, the tournament was a resounding success.

As the College of Language, we extend our warmest congratulations to the triumphant English Department for emerging as the victors of this thrilling competition. We also commend the Kurdish team for securing the second place in the tournament.

Special recognition is due to two exceptional students from the Physical Education Department, Hardy Abdulrahman Hader and Suren Mohammed Abdullah, for their impeccable refereeing throughout the semi-final and final matches.

At the final, the rewards were distributed by the Dean to the succeeded teams, adding a special touch of recognition and appreciation to their achievements.

Once again, congratulations to all participants for making this event a memorable success.

چوار خوێندکاری زانکۆی سلێمانی (دایک)، وەک باڵیۆزی زانست، کە لەنێویاندا خوێندکاری بەشی زمانی ئینگلیزی (ئیمان ئومێد نامیق) لە قۆناغی دووەم، وەک نوێنەری کۆلێژی زمان، بەشداری لە پڕۆگرامی دیداری باڵیۆزانی زانستدا کرد،  لەژێر دروشمی (گەنجان، ئاوات و ئاڵنگاری). دیدارەکە لە بەرواری ٧ ـ ١٠ی ئازاری ٢٠٢٤ لە شاری ئیزمیری وڵاتی تورکیا، بە بەشداری 150 خوێندکار و گەنج لە 8 وڵات و 41 شاری جیاواز و زیاتر لە 20 کەسایەتیی سیاسی و حکومی و ڕێکخراوەیی هەردوو وڵاتی کوردستان و تورکیا بەڕێوە چوو.

Four outstanding students from the University of Sulaymaniyah, including Eman Umed Namiq from our College of Language’s English Department, have proudly represented us as Science Ambassadors in the prestigious Science Ambassadors Meeting, rallying under the inspiring theme of “Youth, Aspirations, and Challenges”. This meeting was held from March 7th to 10th, 2024, in Izmir, Turkey. The event brought together 150 students and youth from 8 countries and 41 different cities, along with over 20 influential figures from political, governmental and organizational spheres of both Kurdistan and Turkey. Throughout the meeting, a series of panels and workshops delved into youth-related topics, such as:

– Youth, experience and future

– From local to global

– Women’s strength in leadership

– Independent economy, innovation and initiative

– Kurds and Turks / A brief summary of their history over a millennium

– Internationalization of organizational work

– Preparing for the labor market

– Skills development

– Balance of wok, study, and social life

At the conclusion, our students were honored with International Certificates of Participation by the event organizers, marking their significant contribution to the global discourse on science and youth leadership.
